Random Things

I think all the organizing is done. There are still a few things that I want to do around here, but really all the basics are totally done. Every cabinet, every shelf, every room, every file, every toy, every piece of clothing... So, basically- I win.

My mom and I have both been organizing and I totally beat her so bad it is pretty sad. You should go tell her how sad you are for her. And don't let her give you some sob story about how she had to watch Charlotte for me, because I still have her here 6 out of 7 days AND I don' t have two teenagers to help me.

So here are a few things I thought I would share with you:

I heart Magic Eraser. Well, actually I heart the Target Brand magic sponges or whatever they are called.
I have used these for everything lately and they seriously work really well. I cleaned the tub and it looks Brand New. It cleaned the grout with so little effort it was ridiculous.

Mesh Laundry Baskets- they fold flat. I have used these for EVERYTHING. They are perfect for clean laundry because I don't have to find a place to store a bunch of extra baskets and yet I can divide everything up by room or closet. I also use them for random projects- lugging all the stuff for Charlotte's invitations around the house to keep them out of her reach, picking up piles of toys and then sorting and redistributing them to their homes- you get the idea. I love them.

Another thing that has been working well is having an empty basket or container in every room. I do believe in leaving yourself "room to grow" when you organize, but these are intended to STAY empty. Since I know myself and I am not one of those people who is going to put things away right away and all that I decided to just embrace that. Before, I would just stack stuff up near where it needed to go or just in some random spot because I didn't feel like going to the trouble of actually putting it away. So these baskets solve this problem for me. I can just dump stuff in them until I am just in the more "organize-y" frame of mind. So far so good.

Also, I love Target. I really really do.

Good idea on the empty basket. I'm a stacker also. Target has really ticked a lot of people off with their return policy. It's dumb!

I finally did the google reader thing. Very cool so far.

Be careful with Charlotte and those Mr. Clean erasers. I don't know what the difference is between the two, but there was this story that was going around on the email about this kid who got a hold on one and rubbed it on himself. He was burned really bad....

But congrats on getting organized!! Speaking of getting organized my closet shelf needs some work....

I got that email as well and did a little research, so here is a PSA for those of you that might use the Magic Eraser around your children:

Please do not rub it on yourself or your child's skin. It is clearly abrasive and should not be used to remove Sharpie or paint or whatever else from your child. Children who are too young to understand this should also not be allowed to handle it.

There is a whole bunch of info on the internet. My understanding is that the story about the burns on the face can't really be true BUT there is a potential for them to damage your skin.

There is another email about Magic Eraser containing formaldehyde which is not true either.

You have her 6 out of 7? NOT. And NOT.

And you don't have as many people to organize after, or as many personalities. . .

And of course you haven't won.

I'll do a room-by-room critique of your house, especially after Charlotte's birthday party.
