VBS recap....

Well, it is over. For those that don't know I am the director of a 4th grade VBS room at our church. This is the second time I have been a director but I have worked at VBS as a youth worker and helping out when my mom was a director.
Sorry for the lack of pictures- I didn't really have time to take any so we will have to live without them!

Here are some interesting tidbits from this year:

  • When visiting my mom's room of 4 year olds I saw in the hallways that there really is no better phrase for "lines" of 4/5 year olds than "herding cats". They have no concept of a line, even when they have the fancy little rope to hold on to.
  • We had a little boy in our room who WALKED with his mom and brother for two hours to come to VBS. They didn't walk every day, but they only had one car and when dad couldn't get home from work in time they did.
  • When the same kid is constantly reported for hitting, punching, name calling and every time he claims that "they did it first" you really stop believing him after a while.
  • Kids love trading cards.
  • I wasn't made to get up so early in the morning and get out of the house.
  • Bellevue is a BIG church- they should offer complimentary golf carts to us- I think I am more tired from walking back and forth than anything else.
  • Lyndsey is SO excited about working next year she can hardly wait!! I know she would do this 10 times a summer if she could!!
  • IT WAS HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go check out my mom's blog for some pictures of Charlotte having fun at VBS!

You are so right...I love VBS so much that as soon as it ended I went and signed myself up to work at every VBS in the Memphis area this summer. Wow, I can't wait!!!

Ok, it wasn't really that bad..just so hot, so early, and so loud. BUT...the 2 professions of faith made it worth it. That was awesome!!

Maybe we should wear earplugs and bathing suits next year... there is nothing against that in the dress code :)

Friday afternoon, one of our moms told us that she mentioned to her son that morning that it was the last day of VBS.

He said, "But Why?"

So, Lyndsey, maybe you could offer a HOME-based VBS. . . . keep the fun going all summer!

I know Jessica really is sad that VBS is over, because now she HAS to get ready for her garage sale!!

Home-based VBS...BRILLIANT why did I not think of that already? I mean what could be more fun...thousands of kids showing up at my doorstep all summer long...me dancing and singing to a variety of snazzy camp tunes. I am so excited I can't stand it!!
