I recently ordered a magazine called Ottobre. It is a Finnish (as in from Finland) sewing magazine- it comes LOADED with patterns! At first I was a little taken aback when I saw the way you had to trace the patterns.....
It looks like this:

And then you have to identify the right page and color for the item you want to make and then trace each piece. So, that was pretty tedious, but once I got the hang of it- it wasn't really that bad. I decided to make a couple of things so I went and picked out some fabric this morning and started sewing!
Now, this is far from perfect, and the buttons are a little off due to the fact that the metric system is stupid. Or maybe I just don't understand it. Whatever. I don't like it and that is what matters.
But here is one of my finished projects on a very uncooperative baby model:

I think it came out really well and it is even cuter in person!
I am going to make a few more for the spring (in springy colors I think) and I think there is a short sleeve version for the summer. I can't wait to get some more of these magazines- the subscription is kinda expensive but when you think about the fact that you get like 30 or so reusable, resizable patterns it is not a bad deal. I will probably continue to buy random issues on Ebay for now, and if any of you are interested in buying me gifts just keep this in mind.

And yet you didn't show the little jumper / tunic / pinafore that you made to go over this shirt. I think it is super cute, even if you think it's too fat and blousy.
More pics!!
I will do the jumper too. I am just going to do a separate one for that- I want to put a tee shirt under it and some different pants.
The English System of measurement is the stupid one. If you new the metric system you would love it.
No. I hate the metric system and I stand behind that.
One thing for sure...the "model" is quite adorable!! I think the top turned out really cute. Show us the jumper now so we can see what all you've accomplished. BTW - I hate having to do conversions to the metric system. Maybe some of us, not Mary of course, are too old to learn new tricks.
VERY cute! Love the model, too!!Rachel made one of those long, full skirts the other day, but doesn't think it looks good. If I can just get her to put it on the blog....
