We're Back!

For all you complainers- I was on VACATION at the BEACH- I didn't really want to waste time BLOGGING!!

First, an update- the drive home went well even if it seemed to take forever. Gas ranged from $3.69 to $4.69. That was pretty depressing.
The weather was fantastic except for one day we had of heavy wind and some rain. The surf was pretty crazy on Thursday and we went out and took a beating in the waves (not Charlotte before you worriers panic). It was exhausting but really, really fun.

Charlotte's new favorite thing in the world is to watch "Again Doggies"- known to the rest of us as "101 Dalmations". When she sees Perdita with those tiny white puppies right after they are born she just squeals with happiness..

Let's get started on the fun part!

Let's start with the beach. I present to you the child that hated sand with the fiery passion of a thousand suns:

Picking up some shells for her bucket- she would gather them up and scream "Pretty! Put it in the bucket!"

She was desperate to get to those birds. I mean desperate. But surprisingly, the bird kept moving away. Perhaps it was all the screaming of "Come 'ere bird"

Back at the pool- please excuse Matt's hat- Charlotte insisted he wear it the entire time one day.

Swimming around the pool in her "di-so-nor"

Checking out her toenails (and mommy experimenting with the camera). Excuse the giant band-aid. She fell the night before at dinner and scraped up her knee pretty badly. I wanted to keep the sand out but forgot to take it off when we got back to the pool.

Taking a break.

And oh yes... by the last day she was swimming all by herself! She didn't go far of course, but she pushed off the steps and wiggled around until she got to Matt. We were all very impressed. As you should be.

Falling sleep while eating lunch. She kept waking up long enough to ask for more. She ate like a little piggy at lunch everyday.
Our "bad" weather day. We walked up to the playground {CLOSED} and then over to the stores to look around. Basically, we just wanted to get out of the house. That bag she has is empty but she insisted on bringing it anyway.

She loves to say CHEESE. The boardwalk from our house out to the beach

Our house as seen from the chair by the pool that I laid out in. I was level with the bottom floor and there is another floor above this that you can't see from this angle.
Empty cabinets are fun for playing in. She would close herself up in there and yell out for us to close our eyes and she would pop out.

This is a game. It has amoebas- those would be the round things with the sticks in them. They excrete (aka poop) those little colored blocks. It was surprisingly fun.

This one is just to freak out Susan.

That is totally a dolphin. I promise- there are huge groups of them that swim by all the time. There were probably about 25 of them out there but this picture just happened to come out with this awesome view of one of them.

And truly this might have been one of the highlights of the trip. That picture below is of the super-famous "Montgomery Flea Market". All together now: "It's just like, it's just like, it's just like--a mini- mall".

Oh man I'm so jealous! I want to take the girls to the beach so bad. I think they would love it.

Time spent sharing Charlotte with the left-behinders is not time "wasted".

I am so sad for her that she couldn't catch the bird.

What are ya'll gonna make out of her shell collection?

You could like glue the shells onto a picture frame and frame a picture of all of ya'll for a momento. My grandma framed a huge mirror and glued beach shells onto them. It looked nice hanging above her couch.

Glad you guys has a nice time. I love vacations....

Too bad Charlotte didn't like the sand... That's one of the best parts, or kind of.... My sister and I a long time ago built these huge holes in the sand and popped in them when people came by. That was fun.

Wow! What a difference a year makes! I can't believe she was loving the sand so much. She looks like a natural in it. I appreciate the shark...I mean dolphin...picture. You didn't actually get in the water, did you?

Of course I got in the water!!

We got out in the huge waves and Matt and I took out our inflatable boat for a while. I LOVE to get in the ocean.

The first day when the water was really still was the only day that Charlotte got in. She floated around and loved it. You could walk out to about (my)waist-high and see all the way to the ground. It was so nice.
